Butterfly.

We met the night my older sister had her first child. I went out to celebrate in the City, started at a bar, then friends hit me up and we mobbed to a massive house party in lower Haight.

Glitter everywhere, men in heels, house music, pink feathers, half empty bottles of hard alcohol, and a funky looking boy with facepaint chillin on the patio.

“him,” I thought. “I’ll talk to him. He looks interesting…is he wearing facepaint? Why?”

I walked strait up to the dude and asked. “cause my friend wanted to paint my face” he said.

Simple as that. Good response.

I couldn’t even begin to see what he REALLY looked like. He had Coolio dreadlocks, random colors splashed all over his face, a dirty white shirt… He’s weird. Interesting. We stayed together that whole night.

“When can I see you again?” he asked while im scrambling to find my clothes and get him out of my bed.

“Well, I work at Rockin Java, it’s a cafe right next to Amoeba Records.” I wasn’t expecting to ever see him again.

Apparently, I also gave him my number.

I didnt respond to his texts. Not that I wasnt interested, obviously enough to invite him home with me. But to actually get to know him…

Not into it. I’m happy single.

So I continued to work at my coffee shop where the coffee sucked, but who cares anyway? The music was incredibly loud, and the customers never tipped. I loved it. It was real.

I was making some super bullshit “coffee” drink when I looked up from my tenth pump of vanilla flavored syrup and there he was. Standing on the other side of the espresso machine. Those stunning blue eyes.

“Hey. What’s up”

“Working. You?”

“Skating. I have something for you” He said so sweetly I was sceptical. What could this stranger have for me?

“Okay. I’ll see you outside as soon as I finish this.”

He waited outside for me with a brown paper bag delicately held in his overly large and very attractive hands. I reached for it and he never looked away from me.

Inside was a beautiful feather headband, each feather strategically placed.

“I made it for you. I just got back from a moutain adventure, I found these feathers and thought of you.”

I couldn’t resist. I put it on and it was a perfect gift. It was so unbelievably romantic that he did that for me.

I had to know him. I had to be his girl.

So I was.

I’m on a rocket ship…that’s all.

I left Humboldt County in a jolt. No goodbyes to the people I became familiar with and love.

I have reasons.

Everything becomes wild when your on top of the clouds. Nature is so seductive.

I’ve spent many months in northern California this year. I love the fog’s morning greeting, one of my favorite memories. See…

Burning man 2012

In between the Westfailia Vanagon breaking down, Nevada City and San Francisco…We went to Burning Man for the third year in a row. Our best friends from San Francisco and Arizona joined forces. This was the first year we had our own camp, properly named, “Camp as Fuck.” I spent most of my time at camp with them, cooking, cleaning, making drinks, and exploring on bikes with my crew. I found so much excitement in their experiences, rather then the previous years where it was mostly about me (well, all about me).

This year was definitely different than the previous ones, where I was catered to, treated like royalty and rode in a private plane around the playa.

I wanted to be where my friends were and that was more special to me than anyone driving inside a giant take-out chow mein box. Or hotties with bodies. well, my friends are pretty damn hot. So..it worked out. I wanted to make memories with people that I already have them with.

The climax of the my 2012 Burn?

Stealing a pirate art car. Dont be all morally worried about it, the guy chased us down and kicked us out after 10 minutes or so. Thrilling as fuck. A massive ship with red flags whipping in the wind, two stories, what a weenie! ( Yes, he totally wanted to kick our ass but its Burning Man. I was wearing a pirate coat….thought it was our ship, Sorry dude.)

Summer. Another adventure.

We spent 3 months living on a farm, washing our dishes outside, listening to crickets and deer shuffle through the trees at night. Wild black bears. The sunsets were a regular event, enjoying all the warmth and light the sun provided.

We’ve traveled many places this year. From Portland, Oregon to Albuquerque, New Mexico. TWICE..

I look foward to staying put for awhile….not quite yet tho.

20120910-102049.jpgOur lunches on the farm were quite healthy! Kale  salads with a cold drink: Cayenne, Honey, and lemon.20120910-102107.jpgThis summer I officially moved out of my apartment in the city.20120910-102340.jpgMy homegirl came to San Francisco and Van dwelled  in The Dutchess( RV) with me for 3 days. Slept on comfy carpets….fell in love with Portland.

20120923-172923.jpgAND THE Biggest Disappointment EVVER. The Westy broke. Goodbye NACHO you piece of shit! Broke our hearts. AND..the tow truck broke while our ex-vehicle was on top. Classic. 20120923-172939.jpg…Meanwhile we’re heartbroken and need a set of wheels..so we got a Volkswagon Car. That bitch broke too. Fuck.20120923-173035.jpg

The Good News!!

1.) I fit the Westy like a glove. The hunt for one isn’t over….

2.) We’re currently in Phoenix, Arizona with the Family and getting the Car worked on. (Wish us luck back to California.)

3.) I made it to AZ in time to send my little sister off to Africa. I made it!

4.) Went to Burning man with our best friends…nof said on that for the moment..

Benbow’s music and art festival

What a treat this little gathering was. Completely unexpected and a total delight. Met tones of locals, had a few pints of Summer Solitice beer on tap… for the steep price of $6 bucks. Not too bad, since it’s a seasonal sensation( apparently. I don’t know, my super-taster skills usually leave me after the 3rd shot of tequila AND the women at the entrance made us drink all our beers in our bags before we came in. We were a little saucey). None the less, I enjoyed myself fully among Humboldt locals, hula hooping with kids( The Kid Stage was my jam) and talking about nature and how tall the damn trees are!

Pretty damn high on life. check it out.

Im also checkin out “Regge on the River” next month. Humboldt county has me all goosed bummed and falling in love.

Shits LOCKED!!

Symbiosis was transformative for everyone who went. The festival was held at Pyramid Lake, a native reservation in Nevada. The scenery is breathtaking and intimidating with endless desert-creepy-crawlers. I did go black widow/scorpion hunting one night(more like scouting, nothing was killed, I was motivated to find them since I just shrilled a bottle of Jameson). The lake was soothing and we decided to camp as close to it as possible, basking in its glory of cool air and its healing powers from the desert elements. The land was vibrating energy and it was immediately recognized upon entrance. Im full of gratudity for this experiance, one that is held high…. that has brought my humility to the forground of my thoughts.

I live for this stuff..for family and unity and damn good music and frequent divine intervention.

Similar to Burning Man (which was of course frequently brought up throughout the week) since there were:

A)hellaa Burners B)similar energy C)drugs galore D)sandstorms? yuomp.

But also different given the land’s history. AND the mind blowing solar eclipse. Yeah, we all were cheering for that shit. NATURE KICKS ASS.

Fluid and crystallized intelligence

New Mexico was a sloppy fun time with lots of homemade food and booze. We went to Albuquerque to be with the love of my life, Miss Karanina. Upon arrival the champagne flowed and the girl cackle went all night. All of us decided to check out Santa Fe’s Plaza one night, where we found our favorite dive bar, reminding us of San Francisco. We continued the road trip to Taos and viewed the famous “Earthships,” homes that are completely self-sustainable made out of all recycled goods. These homes stay the same temperature year-round, air conditioning and heaters are not required. These homes also have their own indoor garden lucious with vegetation and stores its own water from rainfall. Brilliant!  New Mexcico was full of beige and turqurious and the sunsets were remarkable.

We left our dear Karanina and headed south to Rosewell, stoping to get my litle brother something from this strange place. He’s pretty much obssessed with aliens. Our main and final destination of New Mexico was Carlsbad to check out the Caverns. Then onward we went back to California passing thru El Paso Texas, stopping in Arizona to visit a friend in Tucson and onward to Joshua Tree…Round TWO in the Desert, But!! this time meeting up with friends from San Francisco and LA on BLM land. HA!

Home sweet home

Arizona is a special place to me and I had a wonderful time with my family. The weather was spectacular. Mostly sunshine, had the opportunity to see rain and as we headed up north we saw snow. We passed through Sedona stopping to check out the canyons and food.

I was very active with my family and old friends. My Dad helped fix up the RV even more! Went to the renaissance festival and dressed as pirates with my nephew. Ate some bomb homemade food. Took the train to the Grand Canyon. Snuggled with my brothers and sisters.

Life is good. We left Arizona to come be with one of my best friends who lives in New Mexico. Still here and having a wild time! I feel like royalty.
